EMILY GROTH

Born and raised in Monona, WI, Emily was an athlete growing up playing various sports and being active in her free time. She played division 1 collegiate hockey at Providence College (go Friars) and is accustomed to working hard and showing up for her team.

After her competitive hockey career, she was lost in the fitness industry without a strength coach and bounced around to various gyms before coming back to what she knew and loved. Instead of training to be an athlete, she was now training to be the best version of her. 

She’s been a personal trainer for over 10 years helping hundreds of people on their health and fitness journey. She values her relationship with clients and is committed to their success. Training is just a small part of her life that allows her to continue to do the things she truly love.

When she’s not training, she’s usually spending time with her wife Robyn and daughter Sloane. They love exploring outside, cruising around town by bike or foot, checking out local events and spending time with family. She also has the best gym dog Banks and gym cat P (who’s blazing trails for gym cats nationwide).

HOW WE DO IT

GENERAL PHYSICAL PREPAREDNESS (GPP)

GPP is the foundation of Groth Fit training programs and personal training. It’s designed to build the most broad, general, inclusive fitness possible. In short, it’s for everyone. It says fitness isn’t what you look like; it’s what you’re capable of.

Life is a mixed bag of events, and GPP is the single best training strategy to prepare for the unknown. It’s being able to lift heavy objects, climb the stairs with arms full of groceries, keep up with kids or grandkids, and move well throughout life. It’s broad on purpose.

Within GPP, we utilize functional movements: squat, hinge, push, pull, jump, run, press, carry, and throw.
